Chip dumping is the process of transferring or "dumping" chips from one player to another on a table. Strategically, this can be most effective when done at the beginning of a tournament to accomplish a double-stack advantage early-on against other players. Some of the fraudulent usecases of chip-dumping are to transfer money from hacked account to hacker's account, or as a mean for money laundry.
Chip dumping is prohibited at nearly all online poker rooms, and they investigate it fiercely as well as build means to automatically detect it by observing statistical irregularities.
