Multiple accounts
From PokerAI
Multi-accounting is the act of creating several accounts at casino/poker site in order to make it possible to run a pokerbot longer (via different accounts), or for performing activites such as bonus whoring and collusion.
Multi-accounting (which in some cases is done by creating fake accounts) is usually forbidden by poker sites end user license agreement (EULA). Most of the poker networks will not allow users from the same IP address to login and participate in the same game.
Not only players using pokerbots but also human players are banned for multi-accounting. A famous example among many is the ban of the 2007 WCOOP (World Challenge Of Online Poker) winner on PokerStars, where almost 1 million US$ were seized by the casino.
Dynamic IPs
Usually, a casino will allow several relatives (say me, my brother, and my sister) to play at the same site at the same (or not) time, if the people use separate internet connections. The "separate internet connection" practically means having different IPs. One can counterfeit this even with only one internet connection, if the ISP provides you with a dynamic IP. The problem with that, however, is that after the IP is changed enough times it starts to repeat, hence two accounts can be linked together by the same IP (and this happens in practice, e.g. some providers' dynamic IP range contains just 200 IPs).
