Online Hold'em Inspector is an add-on software for online Texas Hold'em poker game. If you run the Inspector while playing online holdem, it will capture all the up cards from the game table and display detailed hold'em stats for all betting rounds instantly. The program goes beyond what many other poker calculators provide. As well as displaying stats such as Pot odds, chance to win, chance of making a hand etc. OPI provides the user with advice as to what action to take when it is their turn. This advice comes from customizable OPI profiles. The profiles allow the user to go select which starting hands they want to play, and define how to play the cards preflop. Then on later streets the user is able to define what action to take based on a number of factors based on board states, which are made up of the users hole cards and the community cards. The player is able to decide which action to take according to their position at the table, and the current state of the pot (called, raised, re-raised etc)

A market for profiles

On the OPI Forums and a number of privately owned sites, many OPI users sell the profiles which they have made to other users. Prices have been known to be up to $1200, but the usual price is around $30-50. Many buyers have been known to be unhappy with their purchase if the profile does not seem to be winning at the rates which were claimed by the seller. When buying a profile it is important to look at a number of factors including the trustworthiness of the seller, the price, the results claimed for the profile, the number of sales made, and what other users are saying about the seller and the profile.

The Brain for a bot

Due to the customizable profile advice, OPI is commonly used as the input for a pokerbot. These bots simply read the advice given by OPI and press the correct buttons on the poker client. The use of these bot add ons has led to Poker Stars completely banning the use of OPI on their site.
